Occupational Self-Efficacy of Secondary School Male and Female Teachers of U.T. Chandigarh

In this study the occupational self-efficacy of Female and Male teachers of U.T. Chandigarh Schools was compared and examined. Occupational self-efficacy of the teacher is to furnish the teaching tasks as well as non-teaching tasks as per one’s own capability. In the present study data and records were collected by descriptive survey technique. Total 200 teachers (100 female and 100 male) from schools was the sample by stratified random sampling to collect the data. The tool used for collecting the data was O.S.E. Scale of Pethe, Chaudhary and Dhar, (2006). Data analysis and interpretations were made through statistical techniques like Mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results indicated significant difference between female and male teachers occupational self-efficacy. Male teachers of Private schools showed lower Occupational self-efficacy, however male teachers of Government schools showed higher level of occupational self-efficacy. The study highlights the importance of understanding the factors and elements of increasing and decreasing occupational self-efficacy of teachers.
